Licensed
in the state of Florida as a practicing psychotherapist, Cher
has been working with children and families
since 1986. Cher graduated Summa Cum Laude from
Florida State University. Her baccalaureate studies were completed
at the University of Central Florida where she graduated as
Valedictorian of the College of Arts and Sciences. She is certified
by the Supreme Court as a
Family Mediator and is active in the 5th Judicial Court System
as a Mediator and Parenting Coordinator.
Cher enjoys people of all ages. She is particularly
focused on the impact of divorce and the special needs of children,
adolescents and families. Her areas of special interest include
attention
deficit
disorder
in children and adults, early intervention
for violence,
parenting
concerns, learning disabilities, marital and family therapy
and equine facilitated psychotherapy. Cher is certified in
medical hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming for pain
control, trauma resolution, stress and anxiety reduction, relaxation
and visualization.
She designed and implemented the SADLES therapeutic riding
and challenge programs for children, adolescents and adults
who suffer from ADD, anxiety, depression, anger management
problems, low self esteem, poor impulse control, and developmental
delays.
Cher is President and founder of SADLES, Inc.,
a comprehensive counseling center which utilizes traditional,
experiential
and equine facilitated psychotherapy as well as enrichment
riding clinics for adults and children between the ages of
four and seventy four. Cher is a certified Therapeutic Riding
Instructor with NARHA as well as a Certified Riding Instructor
with CHA. She also holds a certification with Parelli Natural
Horsemanship. Cher has been featured on local
and state television programming for
her accomplishments.
She is
an
experienced public speaker and advocate for children and families.
Cher is a practicing member of the Florida Association of Family,
Court and Community Professionals, the American Medical Equine
Association, the Certified Horsemanship Association, the North
American Handicapped Riders Association, the Equine Facilitated
Mental Health Association, CHADD, and the National Association
for Clinical Social Workers.
Charles A. Kersey
Since 1980 Charlie has supervised and conducted
environmental education programs. He participated in the development
of the "I Can We Can" challenge course for the University of
Florida. He also served on the National Safety and Standards
Committee for the Ropes Courses. Charlie's extensive history
in human services also includes a military background in which
he received the Bronze Star, two Silver Stars and a Purple
Heart.
Charlie is certified as a facilitator and trainer
for both low and high ropes challenge courses. He has conducted
therapeutic horsemanship classes, led trail rides and camp
outs. Charlie has attended Challenge Rope Course workshops
in Arkansas,
Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and Florida; including advanced
skills and training through Project Adventure. Because of his
extensive background and expertise he was authorized by the
University of Florida to construct elements (both low and high)
at Camp Ocala, Camp Timpooche, Camp Cherry Lake and Camp Clover
Leaf. He has designed and constructed Challenge Rope Courses
throughout the Southeastern United States; was involved in
the first Challenge Ropes Course in Curacao in the Caribbean;
and was a consultant for the course at the Brevard County Juvenile
Detention Center.
Charlie's experience entails working with diverse
organizations such as: The Federal Aviation Administration,
Barnett Bank, Marion County Juvenile Detention Program, Lake-Sumter
Community College Leadership Program, Florida 4-H and other
youth programs. YMCA, High Excellence Inc. and the Curacao
Organization of Police Chiefs.
